Gomati District Polytechnic established in the year 2013, is one of the six Polytechnics (including erstwhile Polytechnic Institute Narsingarh, now Tripura Institute of Technology) established by the Higher Education Department, Government of Tripura to expand the reach and enhance the technical education in the state of Tripura.

The Institute is situated in Fulkumari (Udaipur-Amarpur state highway) which is about 6 km from the Udaipur city. It has a campus of over 28 acres covered by natural greenery which makes it perfect ambience to pursue technical education. There is a main building housing administration as well as academics. Additionally, there are three more workshop buildings in the campus. Separate hostel buildings for boy and girls have been completed recently and accommodation for students will be available very soon.

This Institute is committed to impart the skill based technical education in a variety of fields and transmission of knowledge with respect to the latest developments in technology, with its main focus on start up of entrepreneurships, employability and attainment of higher education. The students are encouraged to explore various avenues of technological areas and gain adequate exposure in the recent trends of engineering and technology. At present, Gomati District Polytechnic offers three years Diploma Engineering Programme in three disciplines, namely, Diploma in Civil Engineering, Diploma in Electrical Engineering, and Diploma in Computer Science & Technology. All courses offered by the Institute are approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICT E) and is affiliated to the Tripura University (A Central University).

The Institute conducts Internal Assessment Examinations and promotes continuous evaluation process in order to improve the performance of the students whereas the semester examinations are conducted by the Tripura University at the end of each semester. During the duration of three year programme, several trainings, field visits, industrial visits, educational tours, in-campus seminars are being arranged for the betterment of the students.

Trainings and placements are being arranged by the Training & Placement Cell of the Institute. The Cell arranges summer internships of minimum 03(three) weeks in various organizations for students of all debartments/disciplines and also arranges industrial visits, industry expert visit to the Institute for student interaction. The Cell also contacts several organizations and companies for placement purpose.

Stipend Section provides service to the students for availing the best scholarships available as per their eligibility for particular shceme. Recently, NSS Unit has also been formed which has been duly approved by the State NSS Cell wherein more than 80 students have volunteered as NSS Unit members.
